Retrograde transport of NGF/trkA

As I attempted to storyboard, I got really caught up with retrograde signaling of NGF/trkA. My big question was how does an interaction that occurs at the peripheral end of the nociceptor affect the cell body in the dorsal root ganglion? Vesicles and motor proteins came to mind, as did signaling pathways.

Surprisingly, a quick Google Image search led me to a couple of very interesting papers (not exactly the best way to search for research papers, I know...).

Miller, F.D. and D.R. Kaplan. 2002. TRK makes the retrograde. Science 295 (5559): 1471-1473. | Click for text (HTML)

Cui et al. 2007. One at a time, live tracking of NGF axonal transport using quantum dots. PNAS 104 (34): 13666-13671. | Click for text (HTML)

Will type up more of my thoughts - but for now, I have some reading to do!
